French Onion Soup

  • 8 onions
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 2 tsp worcestershire sauce
  • 4 cans beef consomme
  • 1/2 cup carrots
  • 1/2 cup celery
  • 1 tbsp parsley
  • 1/4 tsp thyme
  • 1/2 cup onion
  • 2 bay leaves

Simmer onions (should equal about 6 cups), butter, and worcestershire over medium heat for about 30 minutes.

Combine remaining ingredients and cook broth for about 30 minutes. Drain vegetables.

Put onions in broth and you have a great onion soup.

Now, let’s make it French…

Take cheap white bread, cut it in a circle, and toast it.

Put soup in bowl, crouton on top, melt some gruyere cheese on top of the crouton in microwave.
